CANBY --Firefighters generally aren't a superstitious bunch. But they're really hoping that the old bad-news-comes-in-threes rule means they've seen the last of children falling through window screens.
Canby firefighters recently rushed to three potentially serious falls in one week, delivering emergency medical care to children who leaned against screens and plunged to the ground below.
Luckily, all three children have returned home after being flown by helicopter for treatment at Legacy Emanuel Hospital & Health Center in Portland.
"It really could have been a lot worse," said Todd Gary, deputy fire marshal for the Canby Fire District. "These kids had good luck, but you really don't want to rely on luck."
